About Me
Hello. My name is Chris Dolliver. I am the children's pastor at Park Ridge Community Church. I received the call to children's ministry when I was at the age of 12, which had a big impact in my life. With this call on my life I decided to go to Northwest University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Children's Ministry.
Philosophy of Ministry
My philosophy of ministry is as follows: I believe that children’s ministry is not just restricted to just children, but parents and families as well. All too often the parents or families are forgotten and while the children learn values and about God at church, they are not exposed to good examples or learning good things at home. In Deuteronomy 6:4-9, parents are told to teach their children the commandments and to teach them to love God wholeheartedly. In Deuteronomy 11:19 and Proverbs 13:24 parents are instructed to teach the Word to their children so they can be faithful later in life. There are many other verses that speak of the parent’s responsibility to be their children’s spiritual leader in life.
I intend to reach as many children that I can for God. I plan to do this by making everything relevant for the children. I also believe that a visual children’s ministry is key to the day and age in which we live; as children grow up learning about life from TV. The use of a visual children's ministry only addresses one of the multiple intelligences. I address the others through the use of games, interactivity, drawing, audio, etc.
My heart breaks for children living in today’s society. Children are being exposed to certain things and being forced to become older, younger. I strive to provide a safe environment where they can find refuge and rest from having to be older than they actually are, somewhere where they can be a kid again.
